A Canva media kit template is the fastest free way to get a one-page media kit: pick a template, replace the placeholder text and photos with your own, and export it as a PDF. The catch is that most templates are built for influencers selling posts, so a UGC creator needs to swap the audience stats for video samples and a rate card.
This guide walks through the build in Canva, what to delete from a generic social media kit template, what to add for UGC, and when a link-based kit beats a file.
Start with the right Canva media kit template
Search "media kit" in Canva and you will find hundreds of layouts. Ignore the styling for a minute and look at the structure. A good template gives you a clear top section for your name and a one-line pitch, a block for contact details, a block for numbers, and room for images.
Pick one that has:
- A single page. Brands skim, and a second page rarely gets opened.
- Large text areas you can rewrite, not decorative charts you cannot use.
- A layout that works at phone width, because many brands open attachments on a phone.
- Few colors. You will add your own brand tone later, and a quiet template is easier to adjust.
Skip templates built around follower counts and engagement graphs. If you do not post to a big audience, half the page will sit empty, and empty boxes look like missing work.
If you want to see what a finished kit looks like before you build one, the annotated media kit examples show layouts section by section.
What to keep, cut and replace for UGC
An influencer media kit sells reach. A UGC media kit sells finished ad videos that a brand runs on its own account. That changes what belongs on the page.
Keep
- Your name, a short headline, and one clear photo of your face.
- A contact line with an email you check daily.
- A two-sentence bio that says what you make and for whom.
Cut
- Follower charts and audience age splits, unless you truly have an audience a brand would pay to reach.
- Long "about me" paragraphs.
- Social icons that link to feeds with nothing relevant on them.
Replace
- Audience stats become video samples: three to six clips in the formats you actually sell.
- "Partnerships" becomes a short niche line, such as skincare, pets or home.
- Engagement rate becomes a list of what you deliver: raw footage, extra hooks, formats, turnaround.
The longer breakdown of every section lives in what to include in a UGC media kit. Use it as a checklist while you edit the template.
Build the page in Canva, step by step
Set the page and the grid
Open the template and keep the page size it came with. A portrait or letter-style page prints and previews well. Turn on the rulers and keep a consistent margin on all four sides so nothing touches the edge.
Write the top block first
Replace the headline with what you make: for example, "UGC videos for skincare and wellness brands." Under it, one sentence on the format you shoot and how fast you deliver. Do not write "passionate content creator." Brands cannot buy that.
Add your samples
A PDF cannot play video, so use a clear frame from each clip as a thumbnail and put a link underneath each one that opens the full video. Name the link by what it shows, such as "Testimonial, 30s" or "Unboxing, 45s." Keep every sample thumbnail the same size so the row looks tidy.
Add the rate card
This is the section generic templates leave out, and it is the one that gets you paid. Put a small table in a text box, or use Canva's table element. Keep it to five lines. The next section has a version to copy.
Fix the fonts and export
Use at most two fonts. Check that nothing is tiny: if you need to zoom to read it on a phone, enlarge it. Then use Share, Download, and pick PDF Standard for a small file you can attach to an email. Name the file with your name, such as "yourname-ugc-media-kit.pdf," not "Untitled design."
A rate card to paste into your template
Do not put your whole pricing menu in the kit. Five lines are enough to set expectations and start a conversation. Below is an example built from the ugcbios rate calculator's starting points for a creator in the Growing range (10 to 50 paid videos) selling videos of 30 to 60 seconds.
| Line | Example price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 UGC video (30–60s) | $200 | Includes 1 hook |
| 3-video bundle | $540 | Save 10% |
| Extra hook | $50 | Per hook |
| Raw footage | $50 | Per video |
| Whitelisting / Spark Ads | +$100 | Per 30 days |
These are starting points from a calculator, not a record of what brands pay. Adjust them to your experience and niche. If you are not sure where you sit, the free UGC rate calculator prices each line for you, and the rate card template post explains how to word each line.
One practical note: if you list whitelisting, say plainly that it is a separate paid line and not included in the video fee. Spell out the 30-day blocks so there is no confusion later.
Where a Canva PDF falls short
A PDF is a fine first version, and it costs nothing. It also has limits you will hit quickly.
- Videos do not play. A brand has to click out of the file, and many will not.
- It goes stale. Every new clip or price change means re-editing, re-exporting and re-sending.
- Old versions float around in inboxes, so a brand may quote last quarter's prices back to you.
- Links in a PDF are easy to break when a file is forwarded or opened in a preview app.
None of this means you should skip the PDF. Send it as an attachment when a brand asks for a media kit, and keep a live link for everything else. A link-in-bio page can hold the playable portfolio, the rate card and an inquiry form, so the kit never goes out of date. ugcbios builds a media kit automatically from the same page, and the Pro plan ($8/month or $72/year) adds a PDF export if a brand specifically wants a file.
Common mistakes with free templates
- Leaving placeholder text. Search the page for "Lorem," "Your name" and "@yourhandle" before you export.
- Keeping stock photos. Brands hiring a UGC creator want to see you and your work.
- Listing every platform. Link to the one or two where your best clips live.
- Hiding the price. You do not have to share every number, but a "rates on request" kit gets fewer replies than one with a starting price.
- Forgetting the next step. End with one line telling a brand how to book, such as "Email me a short brief and I reply within a day."
If you are still building the clips themselves, start with a handful of strong samples first, since a polished kit with no samples will not convert.
Make it a page, not just a file
Once your Canva PDF is exported, put the same content on a live page you can update in a minute. A free ugcbios page gives you a playable 9:16 portfolio, a rate card and an inquiry form in one link, so your media kit is always current.
